Nickelback

Connor's first 'real' concert was last night. Saving Abel, Seether, and Nickelback. It was fun. I had concerns, just knowing what I have seen at concerts but it all went well. No one puked on or in front of us. The people around us were so nice, the guys hoisting Connor up to see most of the time and singing along with Connor. No one smoked or drank around us and the bands were the only ones with potty mouthes! Ha! The funniest thing Connor did was when we got on the floor he looked around at me and said "Mom, I don't think these people even know what a nickelback is". I had to laugh. Some of them were missing teeth and had blank stares. Nickelback was the best playing a lot of their old stuff mixed in with the new.

Christmas #1

We started our Christmas festivities yesterday with my Mom and Dad (and yes their spouses too!). I know Stinkydog has posted about our tradition of raising our hands until the countdown to open presents. It's always fun and even though some of the nieces and nephews are college age they still seem to enjoy it like the were 6 or 8 years old. And of course we have the traditional picture of Blake and Patrick. Head shot only. We are now the proud owners of a little more than 500 of this same picture. The only thing lacking each year is the presence of hair! And just for Stinkydog, Dad can't even keep his eyes open for a picture-even when he physically tries to open them for the picture!!! Hope everyone is having a great holiday season so far. Enjoy the pics.

Helllloooo!

I know I have been the biggest slacker when it has come to posting this month. And believe me, I know I'm not any more busy than anyone else so I have no good excuses! The kids have both started basketball which has been fun (okay dammit I will e-mail you schedules soon!). Connor finished cotillion and we had the holly ball (pictured is Connor with 2 classmates-Melissa and Kendall). Let me tell you, he can DANCE. Definitely did not get his daddies rhythm. Heh heh.

Anyway, school's out next week and I must get my butt in gear getting ready for Christmas.

My camp is bigger than your camp

Conversation today at lunch between Connor and his cousin (remember Connor goes to camp at Winnamocka and cousin goes to Brookhill).

Connor: We get to have burgers and bbq and pizza at camp
cousin: We get to eat anything we want when we want
Connor: we get ice cream sundaes after dinner almost every night
cousin: we get 5 ice cream sandwiches for lunch
Connor: We have computer geek named Dex that can answer any question
cousin: we have laptops on every bunk in our cabins
Connor: we get root beer at the western dance
cousin: we get sodas at every meal
Connor: we get to stay up until 10 or 11 every night
cousin: we stay up all night long every night until the sun comes up
Connor: our bunks are air conditioned
cousin: (pause) we have fans that attach to every bunk

BURN!!! I had to laugh at the last one. I guess the poor thing ran out of all 'the one ups' he could think of. And for the record, everything Connor said was true.

Casey is back from camp. Worn out. Connor left yesterday for camp. Wound up. So now I get to spend a week with Casey. I have no new lists for this week because I'm sure she'll keep me busy. I would have posted the picture of Joe trying to drag Little Kitty out of his house the other day but Stinkydog's pictures of her dogs were much more hysterical! Have a good week.

New List

Today is the last day to finish anything that was on my list to do with my 5 days off. So far I haven't touched a closet. I still have one puppy left here at the house and any new flowerbed is still untouched. I have however mowed the yard, trimmed the bushes on the side of the house, cleaned the leaves and sticks on the side of the house, and worked out at least twice (hopefully 3 times today). So my list was replaced with a new list since I did everything on it already. I feel much better and productive now. I think Connor and I are headed to the pool if the sun stays out. See ya.

Bees

I can't even begin to ask Connor to take a picture deplicting this moment. He will already have nightmares tonight so I can't ask him to relive it. If you don't know this already, Connor has severe anaphylaxis to beestings. So does his Daddy. SO, you will need to do your own little visual on this one.

Setting: Kroger gas station, Connor and Casey sit in car while I get out to fill car up.

Conversation: Me:It's hot guys so I'm gonna roll down the window while I get gas.
Kids: Okay
2 minutes later: Connor screams bloody murder, opens door to car and proceeds to eject himself out of the car with the seatbelt still on. He's still screaming bloody murder as I unravel him from the belt, move him away from the car and rescue Casey (who started screaming her ass off when Connor reacted).
Problem: There's a wasp in the car
Solution: I shoo him out with a croc, calmly tell all 15 people who ran over to my car that everything is okay. Please don't call 911. We are okay, really (Connor and Casey sobbing in the background) Really! We are okay. None of them looked convinced. I eventually talked Connor and Casey into getting back into the car.

It wasn't funny, but the last time I know anyone trying to eject themselves from a car with the seatbelt still on was Me.....on the way home from Blake's class reunion because I needed to get sick (obviously drunk).

Poor Tiger

Remember Tiger? Connor's cat who we got from a shelter (obviously found dumped on the side of a road somewhere) who subsequently got run over shortly after we got him (don't ask). We spent a small fortune fixing this cat's leg and doctoring his wounds. He recovered and then shortly after began sitting in the litter box day and night. Back to the vet again and a few short bills later we find out the dam thing has some kidney failure. Thank god there's no kitty dialysis. But we spent another small fortune on cat food that was special to his needs for the kidney failure....needless to say it didn't help. Well, now he's back to sitting in the box all day and night. When I went to change the box yesterday he jumped in it and we noticed he has blood in his urine. Bad sign. Back to the vet again today. I honestly don't like this cat but by god we've already spent a small fortune on this thing. He will live until he's 20yrs old if I've got anything to do with it. Wish us luck.

calling all screaming sports fans

This has nothing to do with the superbowl. Very far from it in fact. I think I've mentioned before that Connor is playing basketball for his school this year. And his team is ranked #2 so far......until tonight when we beat the #1 team. The exception tonight was that Connor's team was missing two players so they had no relief. Each boy played the whole game. It was amazing. Connor played his little tail off! Other than Blake nearly getting thrown out in the third quarter, it was great and we screamed our asses off. Well, mostly I screamed my ass off. What's wrong with these other mom's? Have they never been on the worst team before? Do their kids always do that great? Don't think so!! If I find time to quit screaming and take pics I will do so and post some this WE.
Anyway, my baby did awesome and I can't quit telling him so. And if you care to join me they have another game this saturday and I'm not sure if I won't still be hoarse from tonight. I may need some help. GO WABBITS!!!!!!
