Old Year

With the new year right around the corner I have already started to make those resolutions that will go strong for about three weeks and then start to fizzle and remain unresolved for the rest of the year. But while thinking about those resolutions I always look back at the last year. I thought it would be fun to go over a few of my ( and the family) highlights from this year!

  1. Connor turned 10 in March, to some not a big deal, but my baby hit the double digits. He was as excited as I was sad.

  2. Lee got married. Who could forget that?!!!

  3. I ran the 1/2 marathon again in 1hr 49 minutes and 4 seconds faster than my first one.

  4. Connor made his first touchdown in the last game of the season. I still get teary eyed thinking about how happy he was.

  5. We spent our first summer with our in ground pool. I'm hiring a lifeguard next year.

  6. Blake finished a 100 mile bike ride. Woo hooooo! Way to go!!

  7. Casey grew her hair and cut it off for locks of love. She made a plan and stuck to it, I ought to have her make my news years resolutions.

  8. I had my twenty year high school reunion. God, I am getting old.
  9. Casey hasn't yet got sent to the principles office this year. YES, this is big.
  10. Blake and I were married 16 years in September, that puts us on the better side of finishing 20 years. Again, Woo hooooo!
  11. Connor got his braces off and the payments stopped. Woo hoo!!? Wait.....Oh shit, now Casey needs them.
  12. Dad got divorced from wife #2. A blessing to all. This was not a negative thing..believe me.

Okay, I obviously don't have enough events to keep anyone interested. That's why I never do those 35 interesting things about me or other things I get that say what is so great about me. The little things I'm sure will mount up if I could think of them on a whim. The big things always stick with me. And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I like to leave out the negative, so that may be why the list isn't so long. I'm hoping I figure out my camera enough to post the updated pictures!!!!!!!Happy New Year!!!!!

middle aged??

Blake and I are going to a party tonight for some friends of ours who are turning 50! 50 I said! I'm not even 40 and Blake is just barely in his 40's. I'm feeling really old about this because we actually know and socialize with these old farts. Oh, and they have grandkids.

Hannah Montana who?

Finally!!! The big show was last night. And actually, I enjoyed it. That little girl can put on a show. The costume changes and dances were fun. And yes, I was dancing right along. Casey and I went with her friend Kameron and it was cute to see them dancing along to all the songs. I thought it was neat they were together and will always remember this as their first concert! It was kinda hard to believe that this is the spawn of the achy breaky heart guy. I'm glad it was good, we were disgruntled enough as it was that we had so much trouble getting the tickets and all. But anyway, it's over and it was fun.

Thanksgiving Part 2!

Well, the kids and I made the trip to Austin to see Auntie Lee and Uncle Sam. It was good, if not great. The food was WONDERFUL that Sam cooked for Thursday. The wine even better (see drunk pics)!! The kids were ummmm. Okay. Casey the best, only really wanting to be the center of attention most of the time. But not ever really causing too much trouble. Connor not so good, not realizing irritating the shit out of his mother was not the best route of being the center of attention. I only threatened his life twice at Aunt Lee's and only once inside Ikea. I don't think the guy next to us in Ikea minded much as he left smiling. Cousin Lauren trailed along with us and was good, but very quiet. I would have never known she was there except she ate her weight in gold. Other than the very cold (low 40's) temperature all weekend it was a lot of fun!!!! I would have pics except my camera was fresh out of batteries!!!! EEk!! See Stinkydog's site instead!!!

Orange crush

I know I suck at blogging. But I have to tell you about my cute little soccer team. They aren't cute anymore, they have turned into aggressive little monsters. And I have created them. Our color this year is orange, that sucks. Especially since I can't find any words to rhyme with orange to make up a cheer. We have to have a cheer, it's what they do on the sidelines. This year I asked them for input. They came up with orange crush b/c we 'crush' the competition. They proceeded to come up with the cheer that consists of chanting crush, crush, crush, over and over and stomping their feet while walking in a circle and then scream 'Go Orange Crush' at the end. Cute, huh?

Vacation: Part I

Well, we are back from Lee's wedding and had a blast. My children won't quit talking about ATM (we'll explain that later) and all the fun they had. We started out in Lake George and did a few fun things like stay at the Great Escape Lodge, which was across the street from Six Flags. The best part (since it was 76 degrees) was they had this indoor surf pool and the kids got to surf!!!! Yes, I tried it too. The pics are of the kids surfing, our entry to Six Flags, Connor getting his certificate to be in the Kings Army at Ft. William Henry. There was a lot of history there and it was fun stuff too. I could go on for days but won't bore you. Next up, Lee's wedding!!!

Red touches black, your okay Jack!!

Gee, found this (compliments of Blake) on the internet. We think this was a Milk Snake......shoulda listened to Connor when he said it in the first place!!!!!

The victim

This is what we found in the pool today. The kids were playing around and having a blast when one child announced there was a snake in the 'gutter'. Of course I got up to look and saw this little critter trapped in the little filter thing. His tail was caught and he couldn't get out or in. I jumped up and made the kids go inside. I only had regular sized shovel outside and it wouldn't fit in the filter. I was sweating profusely and shaking a lot by now. About then my friend showed up and promptly began laughing at me. (Go ahead Sherrie, kill it yourself next time!!!) We managed to trap it and get a smaller shovel. By then I was able to corner it and jab at it's neck and middle until it didn't move anymore. I then threw it over the fence and took my prize pictures. Does anyone know what kind of snake this is???

Happy Birthday Stinkydog!!!

Today is my little sisters b-day!! I hope all this wedding hoopla didn't make anyone forget her special day today!! I have always loved telling people that we are only a year apart......for the next 50 days anyway!!!!

Margarita Night

This is not what my margaritas looked like last night, but after having a couple of Lee's margaritas you wouldn't have known the difference.

I'm sorry if you don't think that's funny, but I couldn't resist. RIP Tammy Faye!

Delta

This is Delta. The new 'shopdog' at Blake's work. Just weeks after someone dropped of Nilly, this dog arrived. See a pattern?? Jee, he doesn't . Wonder what will be next. Anyway, this dog arrived and all the 'men' in the shop fell in love. They feed her, bath her, Blake ven took her for her first vet appt. last week. It's a mutt, but a cute mutt. And small, she's exactly the same size as Nilly, maybe with a bigger belly. The kids and I took her today and got her a collar and tag (Auntie Lee must be proud!). Actually, everyone in our house has not only collars but tags after Piggee went missing. You've got to be crazy to think you'll find a pet without a tag unless you don't sleep for weeks roaming around posting signs and calling every shelter in town. Anyhoo, she's a cutie!

Hello Kitty!

Meet Austin. This is Casey's new Kitty. She lost Piggee before Easter and has been very upset, only one or two meltdowns, but still very upset. So the week she and Connor were at Camp Winnamocka Blake brings this cat home. It is adorable. It looks like vanilla, so Blake and I call it 'Nilly'. Casey named it Austin after this friend she met at camp named Austin. Nevertheless, it's cute freakin' cat and Coco loves it. New chew toy.

Return of Nerdbird

This is a picture of my summer, or at least what I wish I was doing most of this summer. Fact is, it's been the exact opposite. Chasing kids, dogs, cats (see more blogs). Chasing kids out of the pool all the time. Running around like crazy taking them to camps, etc. I look up and now we only have 3 weeks before school starts!!!! Yikes!
Nerdbird! Isn't that catchy??? That was my sisters new name for the return of my blog! I guess I stayed off long enough I was able to come back with the same name and all since I'm sure no one else wanted it! Nerdbird was considered a lot more than 'Chicken Legs", that brought back too many harsh feelings from grade school. Right Fishdog? JK!!!
